On this journey to 40, there’s been more than a few days I’ve felt lost, confused, or overwhelmed by the choices I had to make.
As millennials, we constantly have to make choices that impact the quality of our life and the well-being of ourselves and others. We are responsible for so much, from our kids, ageing parents, investments, our education and even at work.
Clarity is the state of being clear, focused, and confident about your goals, values, and purpose. It can help you make better decisions, take action, and achieve your dreams.
If you are feeling like you are struggling to find clarity in your life. I got you, friend, here are three ways to create clarity about the things you want.
1. Define Your Vision
The good book said ‘write the vision and make it plain” and we know it ain’t never lied.
Seriously though, if we do not know where we are going, how will we know when we get there? Your vision is your ideal picture or the blueprint of how you want your life to look.

Take time to visualise what your life should look like. Get curious about yourself, and ask yourself some powerful questions, such as:
What do I want to achieve in my life?
What do I want to experience?
How do I want to feel?
Who do I want to be?
Use your answers to create a clear direction in your life. This direction is personal sis, it is motivated by what you truly want and not what society, family, well-meaning friends or anyone outside of you thinks.
Try writing down your answers in your journal, create a vision board or even a personal ‘ mission statement that summarizes your vision. This year (2023) I created a 40-year-old manifesto. It was a guide of the woman I wanted to show up as in my 40-year-old life. I’m still refining it but already I am very excited to see the woman I become in a year.
Armed with your new clear direction, it’s time to take on the world. Start showing up as the person you want to become.
2. Pursue your passions
What are you passionate about friend?
What is that one thing you can speak about to anyone for 20 minutes without coming up for air? What’s that pet peeve that pisses you off, but you can’t let go of it because you know, if given the chance, you can change it?
That’s your passion, my friend.
The realisation is manifestation Sis, figure out your ‘thing’ and start creating, solving, and building. The world is waiting for you.

One of the main hurdles my clients face is being unable to find the time to pursue the things they are passionate about.
If that’s you, a wheel of life is an excellent tool for helping you figure out exactly where your time is going. It also helps you to prioritize what’s important and stay motivated when things seem to be moving backwards.
3. Align Your Actions
Actions are the steps that move our visions to reality. They reflect your commitment, discipline, and habits. Having aligned actions can help you move forward, overcome obstacles, and measure progress.

To align your actions, you need to break down your vision into smaller and specific goals, such as: What are the tools, people, and attitudes I need to achieve my vision?
What are the milestones and deadlines?
How will I track and evaluate my results?
Write down your goals and create a plan or a schedule that outlines what you are willing to do and when you will do it.
Get Feedback
Grenadian Legend, King Ajamu said it right ‘No man is an island and no man stands alone.”
Very often we feel stuck because of a lack of perspective. I maintain that the best person to trust is ourselves, but getting outside help and feedback from people you know and trust is invaluable to moving forward in our fascinating lives.
I’m not sure where I would be if I did not have my solid friends and sisters calling me out when I was wrong, encouraging me when life hit and giving me the space to express my gifts and talents.
Feedback helps us to grow and learn, as you seek feedback remember to remain open-minded, curious, and humble. Write down the feedback and use it to adjust your actions or goals.

These are just some of the ways millennials can create clarity in their lives about the things they want.
