We are halfway through the year and it’s time to do a mid-year self-check-in.
A self-check-in is a way of assessing your progress, challenges, and goals in different areas of your life. It can help you to celebrate your achievements, identify your gaps, and adjust your plans accordingly.
As a millennial, you might be facing some unique challenges and opportunities in your personal and professional life. You might be dealing with the effects of the pandemic, the changing economy, social media pressure, environmental crisis, and more.
You might also be pursuing your passions, exploring your potential, creating your impact, and living your purpose. It’s a lot.
Whatever your situation is, doing a mid-year self-check-in can help you stay on track, and stay motivated as we pursue this fascinating life.
Here are some ways to do it:
Reflect on what you wanted and how much further you need to go.
Pause to examine if you even want the same things you wanted at the start of this year. At the beginning of the year, you might have set some goals or intentions for yourself.

Maybe you want to start a business, learn a new skill, travel to a new place, or improve your health.
How are you doing with those goals? Have you achieved them, or are you still working on them? How do you feel about them? Do they still align with your values, interests, and aspirations? Or have they changed over time?
Take some time to review your goals and evaluate your progress. Celebrate your wins, acknowledge your challenges, and adjust your actions accordingly.
Get rid of some stuff
Clothes, negative thoughts or even people. Sometimes, less is more. Having too much stuff can clutter your space, your mind, and your life.
It can also distract you from what really matters to you. That’s why it’s important to declutter and simplify your life from time to time.
Start by getting rid of some physical stuff that you don’t need or use anymore. Donate or sell your clothes, books, gadgets, or anything else that is taking up space in your closet or home.

Then, move on to getting rid of some mental stuff that is holding you back or bringing you down. Let go of negative thoughts, limiting beliefs, or toxic emotions that are affecting your mood or self-esteem.
Finally, get rid of some social stuff that is draining or harming you. Cut off contact with people who are disrespectful, dishonest, or abusive towards you. Surround yourself with people who are supportive, respectful, and positive.
Do a hard thing.
Doing something hard can challenge you, stretch you, and grow you. It can also boost your confidence, resilience, and satisfaction. A hard thing can be anything that is outside of your comfort zone or requires some effort or courage from you. It can be something personal or professional, big or small, short-term or long-term.

For example, you could do a hard thing like running a marathon, writing a book, quitting smoking, asking for a raise, or speaking in public. Whatever it is, make sure it is something that is meaningful and beneficial for you.
Doing a hard thing can help you overcome your fears, develop new skills, discover new opportunities, and achieve new results.
Get a new routine
Routines are stronger than willpower. Having a routine can help you to create structure, consistency, and efficiency in your life. It can also help you to form good habits, manage your time, and achieve your goals.

A routine can be anything that you do regularly and intentionally to support your well-being and productivity. It can be something daily or weekly, morning or evening, personal or professional.
For example, you could have a routine
like meditating for 10 minutes every morning,
reading for 30 minutes every night
exercising for an hour every day,
or preparing for the next week every Sunday with meal prep and ironing.
Whatever it is, make sure it is something that is realistic and enjoyable for you. Having a new routine can help you to improve your health, happiness, and the way you show up in life.
Doing a mid-year self-check-in can help you to take stock of your life as a millennial and make the most of the rest of the year. It can also help you to prepare for the next year and beyond.
