Being organized and productive is one of my favourite ‘wellness’ practices.
There is an unmistakable sense of maturity that comes when you are doing things that you are supposed to do when you are supposed to do them.
Being organised is beneficial for work and your personal life. It can help you achieve your goals, manage your time, and most importantly, reduce stress.
However, being organized and productive is not always easy, especially when you have a lot of responsibilities and distractions.
As we turn age 40. it’s important to develop some habits and strategies that help to be more organized and productive.
Here are three things 30-year-olds should do to be organized and productive before they turn 40:
1. Plan Your Day and Week Ahead
One of the best ways to be organized and productive is to plan your day and week ahead.
By planning your day and week ahead, you can have a clear overview of what you need to do, when you need to do it, and how long it will take.
You can also prioritize your tasks, set deadlines, and allocate your resources accordingly.
I like to plan what day I’m doing grocery shopping, what days I’m cooking and what days my daughter and I are going to buy lunch.
I also plan when I write this blog, what days are dedicated to research, interviews editing ect.
Planning your day and week ahead can help you avoid procrastination, confusion, and overwhelm.

You can plan your day and week ahead by using a calendar, a planner, or an app.
I read about the Eisenhower Matrix, apparently, it is an effective way to categorize your tasks into four quadrants: urgent and important, urgent but not important, important but not urgent, and neither urgent nor important.
This can help you focus on the most important and urgent tasks first, and delegate or eliminate the less important and urgent ones.
If you work in high-demand areas or you are in high demand – meaning you are a mom (especially single moms), have work commitments, extra curricular duties etc. This is a must-have to help you get clarity on how you spend your time
2. Organize Your Workspace and Home
Another way to be organized and productive is to organize your workspace and home.
Having a cluttered workspace or home can affect your mood, concentration, and efficiency.

It can also make it harder to find what you need, waste your time, and cause stress. One of my pet peeves is clearing my work area, I feel like it always getting cluttered. But the truth is clutter hinders my creativity. I can get work done, but the time and
By organizing your workspace and home, you can create a more comfortable, functional, and pleasant environment.
You can organize your workspace and home by following the KonMari Method, which is a popular decluttering technique created by Japanese organizing consultant Marie Kondo.
The KonMari Method involves sorting your belongings into five categories: clothes, books, papers, kimono (miscellaneous items), and sentimental items.
Then, you keep only the items that spark joy for you and discard or donate the rest. When I first did this I ended up with 4 bags of garbage. I didn’t even realise how many things that I did not like or need I had hanging around.
You also store your items in a way that makes them visible and accessible. I love storage bins and I’ve been looking for options on Amazon because the prices I’m seeing locally are crazy. If you know of any options for storage bins in varying sizes, let me know in the comments.
3. Develop a Morning and Evening Routine
A third way to be organized and productive is to develop a morning and evening routine. Having a morning and evening routine can help you start and end your day on a positive note.
It can also help you establish a rhythm, create consistency, and build momentum. A morning and evening routine can also improve your health, well-being, and happiness.

You can develop a morning and evening routine by incorporating some activities that suit your needs, preferences, and goals and make sure there are some fun things included
For example, some morning routine activities are: waking up early, drinking water and minding your business with activies like meditating, exercising, reading an inspiring book, writing in your journal, saying affirmations or setting your intentions for the day.
Some common evening routine activities are: reviewing your day, planning for the next day, meal prepping or expressing gratitude.
These are just some of the things 30-year-olds should do to be organized and productive before they turn 40.
By following these tips, you can make your life easier, happier, and more fulfilling.
