Joy Activities for Midlife: A Path to Happiness in your 40’s

Once upon a time, I truly believed that it was possible to have joy and that living a fulfilling life could be easy. I still do.  That’s why I dedicate so much effort to creating my own story; my life is intentionally designed.

Midlife is magical, but we all know it can get messy.

To balance this, we can embrace joy through inspired action and maintain our connections. This way, we can navigate whatever challenges arise during midlife, you know the ones, significant relationship changes, parenting, and financial obligations.

At the end of last year, 2025, I compiled a list of things we can all do in midlife to experience things ‘Just for joy’. You can check out the list; I’ll leave a link to it right here.

Part of my commitment to having more joy in my life involves engaging in at least one joyful activity every Month.

In January, I committed to journaling and beach days. This helped me to create more clarity as I entered the new year. It gave me the time to reflect and intentionally set my goals. I’ll also share a link to the Instagram post I made about that here.

In February, my “just for joy” activity was going bowling with my friends, which coincided with my birthday on February 21.

I love bowling for the joy it brings, and because it requires minimal effort on my part to organise. I just have to show up! It’s fairly affordable, there’s food and drinks and at LAVO Lanes in Grenada,  if you bring your own sneakers and socks, it’s cheaper to bowl. I recommend doing that if you decide to go.

Bowling was a wonderful experience filled with maximum joy and fun. We laughed, encouraged each other, and had genuine bonding moments. While waiting for our turns, we had time to kiki and get caught up while enjoying drinks.  This allowed us to relax and have a great time together. I made a post about it on Instagram, and I’ll leave a link for that as well.

Looking ahead to March, we can embrace the theme of renewal as spring arrives and nature comes back to life. This is a great time to revisit dreams you may have set aside.

If your January goals didn’t quite take off and you feel uncertain about the future, remember that March offers a fresh start. Be intentional about moving forward and creating what you truly want.

If you’re just starting on your goals, now is the perfect time. If you need support or guidance, feel free to reach out to me.

As a transformational coach specialising in accountability, I also have an accountability group launching on April 28th. If you’d like to be included, send me a message. We can discuss the challenges you face in achieving your goals and how I can help.

Remember, your joy is serious business; invest in it every single day. I look forward to connecting with you next week!
